Byzantine Geography

The Byzantine Empire is a vast and powerful kingdom. It stretches from northern Africa to eastern Europe. Depending on where you are in the empire, many different types of terrain can be seen. For instance, to the east, towards Rome, there are many rugged mountain or, in Greece, there are many shores sandy shores and beaches. No matter where you visit, you are sure to experience some great views!

The capital of the Byzantine Empire is called Constantinople. The location of this city is  in a very strategic point because it is surrounded by water on all three sides. This makes it easy to defend because it only has to be protected on one side. The city is also located between the Black Sea and the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea which makes it a prime location for merchant ships which bring goods from all over the world.
